I hope you had a wonderful Gaudete Sunday!  The scripture we heard from Philippians is one of my favorite.  St. Paul says “Rejoice in the Lord always,” then, to make sure we get it, he tells us again!  Along with that deep-seated joy comes a peace given by God.  It is such a blessing to have the time of Advent to prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ.

This is a wonderful week of Marian Feasts.  December 8th is the Immaculate Conception, December 10th is Our Lady of Loreto, December 11th is Our Lady, Queen of the Angels, and December 12th is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe!

Today, November 11, is Veterans Day and the feast of St. Martin of Tours, patron of soldiers!  Illustrating his famous act of kindness, Martin is usually depicted on horseback, dividing his red cloak with his sword so he could give half of it to a freezing beggar.  

Today we remember St. Michael, St. Gabriel, and St. Raphael.  The “El” part of their names means “God.”
