Fortnight for Freedom: Witnesses to Freedom will take place from June 21 to July 4, 2016, a time when our liturgical calendar celebrates a series of great martyrs who remained faithful in the face of persecution by political power – St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher, St. John the Baptist, Sts. Peter and Paul, and the First Martyrs of the Church of Rome.

This year, we will look at the lives of more than 14 women and men of faith, from all over the world, who bear witness to authentic freedom in Christ.  Parishes are encouraged to hold special events to show the importance of defending religious freedom, especially to pray the Patriotic Rosary on or around the 4th of July.  Free materials are available on the USCCB website, including prayers for religious liberty in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Tagalog.
