Canonization of Blessed Pope Paul VI / Canonización del Beato Papa Pablo VI
Pope Paul VI led the Catholic Church from 1963 until his death on August 6, 1978. Faced with the issue of whether to change the Church’s longstanding opposition to artificial birth control, Paul VI penned his landmark encyclical Humanae Vitae in 1968, reaffirming the Church’s teaching on the dangers of artificial contraception and the beauty of God’s gift of conjugal love. Even though his papacy lasted for another 10 years, this would be his last encyclical.
El Papa Pablo VI dirigió la Iglesia Católica desde 1963 hasta su muerte el 6 de agosto de 1978. Enfrentado con el tema de si cambiar la vieja oposición de la Iglesia al control de la natalidad artificial, Pablo VI escribió su histórica encíclica Humanae Vitae en 1968, entregando un fuerte " no "al cambio y reafirmando las enseñanzas de la Iglesia sobre anticoncepción. Aunque su papado duró otros 10 años, esta sería su última Encíclica.
