Principles and Policies for End-of-Life Care Conference

Join The Texas Catholic Bishops for an in-depth conference on end-of-life care policies, principles, and pastoral care. This event will feature guest speakers Cardinal Daniel DiNardo and Bishop Michael Olson.

Conference Sessions:

Keynote Luncheon: Pastoral Care for End of Life Issues
This session will explore pastoral issues involved in end-of-life care, including how to prepare spiritually for the end of life, how to minister to families facing these decisions and how to helping families to consider end-of-life care long before they are faced with the immediate emotional decisions.
 
Panel 1: Current Law: Flaws and Application
This session provides a brief history of Texas law including it’s benefits and flaws. As a physician and ethicist, Dr. David Zeintek will offer a physician’s and ethics committee member’s perspective on of the application of the law, including case examples. 
 
Panel 2: Why & How to Reform State Laws on End-of-Life Care
This session outlines the history of reform efforts and why we continue to seek reform.
It will include some of the obstacles to reform efforts.
